Sicily And Stone
As ancient as time itself this beautiful country just calls out to be painted.
This exhibition also features a number of sandstone sculptures by Sam Re, hence the name, Sicily and Stone. I felt it was only appropriate given the endless number of magnificent stone buildings, monuments and sculptures we encountered. These are my paintings from that exhibition..

The Quiet Way
Soda Gallery Avalon. October 2006
While at Lake Orta in Northern Italy I visited the tiny island in the lake, Isola San Giulio, dominated by its Romanesque Basilica. On a narrow path weaving between the quaint houses were hanging periodic shingles, each with inspirational sayings. This narrow path was called “The Quiet Way” and the paintings in this exhibition depict the sayings on those shingles.

Unseen Images
Lake Russell Gallery, Coffs Harbour. May, 2005.
This body of works is based on a collection of emails sent home by my daughter while an aid worker in Kabul, Afghanistan, at the time. They depicted various aspects of life and circumstance in this war torn country. Some were humorous, some were tragic, all of them were inspirational.
